Winterfest & Endless Mountains 50 Sled Dog Races

Kiwanis Winterfest and Sled Dog Race will be held President's Day weekend, Saturday, February 13, gates open 7:00am, Camp Brulle, off Rt. 154 north of Forksville. An exciting addition to this event is the Polar Bear jump into a hole cut in the ice of the lake. Lots of fun! Outdoor Family Event, Indoor & Outdoor vendors, Hot Food served all day - Ice Carving - A 50 mile cross country sled dog race will start at 9:00am depending on good snow and trail conditions. The drivers will do one 50 mile loop with an eight dog teams pulling their sleds. They will start and finish at Camp Brulle. Finish time is 4-5 pm. A 25 mile race will start as soon as the first race is out of the gates. Sprint races and skijoring races will follow. If there is no snow for the races we plan to try several short dryland races. Check with us closer to race date for more information on this. Other outdoor activities include an ice fishing derby starting at 7:00 a.m., cross country ski race and snowshoe race, (please bring yur skis and snowshoes). Innertube races, snow sculpturing and a snowman contest will round out the outdoor events. If there is no snow we will improvise with those related activities. The snowshoe races will be shoe box races, cross cuntry ski races become relay races, etc. Register for all events at Pancost Hall and please dress warm so yu will be comfortable outdoors. In Pancost Hall you will also find art, handmade items, vendors and displays. Children can make a picture and enter it in the Clothesline Art Show. Kiwanis Club concession will offer hot and delicious food...breakfast,lunch and dinner, starting at 7:00am. Admission: Adults $5.00 and children 12 yrs. and under - free.
